- Animetion Refreshingly UK-centric, and good for beginners. Has some nice editorials as well.
- Cartoon Brew The hub of all cartoon and animation weblogs.
- Clear Black Lines A large and useful resource dedicated to the heroines of western (mostly American) animation.
- Catsuka (French) Beautifully indiscriminate. Useful in any language.
- Conversations on Ghibli Not just Ghibli, but also pre-Ghibli and similar.
- Nausicaa.net Studio Ghibli films are arguably the best in the world, but if it weren't for the influence of this one Web site, we might not be watching them today.
- Pelleas.net For once, an anime blog that's actually about the animation.
- Toonhound Surprisingly vast site about the UK animation scene.
- Twitch More about horror films than anything else, but with significant (and interesting) animation coverage.
Sites on specific titles
- Charlie and Lola As fan of Lauren Child's books, I was pleasantly surprised to discover just how well they can be animated.
- Andersen Dôwa Ningyo-Hime A small but well-deigned site all about Toei Dôga's Little Mermaid film.
- Arete-Hime no Mori A little site, in Japanese and English, about a little-known feature film from STUDIO4°C.
- The Book of Habidabad The bestest site about The Dark Crystal, and its upcoming sequel.
- The Book of the Dead Official site for the second feature film from KAWAMOTO Kihachirô; also includes information on his previous short films.
- Clow Legacy Covers all 3 series of CLAMP's Clow sequence, both anime and manga.
- Empty Movement Not the best introduction to Shôjo Kakumei Utena (Shadows in the Rose Garden is better in that respect) but the best-looking and most up-to-date.
- Gankutsuô Classic fiction reinterpreted with a fabulousness in the style of ZHANG Yimou and John GALLIANO.
- Halloween Town The greatest site about The Nightmare Before Christmas, one of the greatest stop-motion films.
- Howl's Moving Castle The official UK site, which just so happens to be the best one.
- A Little Snow Fairy Sugar One of the the best anime and manga series for young children after Totoro.
- Paprika The latest and most fantastical movie from KON "Mindf★★k" Satoshi.
- Pocoyo Delightfully insane Spanish computer animation.
- Rupert and the Frog Song A surprisingly fulfilled fansite about a single short film.
- Sarah's Black Cauldron Page A fan site for that little-known black sheep of Disney's animated features.
- The Secret Show Fluffy fluffy bunnies, bouncing in the wood; fluffy fluffy bunnies, bouncing as they should!
- Sekai no Hajimari A Haibane-Renmei fansite, with links to many others.
- Sugar² Rune The anime is yet to see even a US release, but I've read that the manga is better anyway.
- Tenshi no Tamago The elegiac, Parajanov-esque masterpiece of OSHII Mamoru and AMANO Yoshitaka.
- The Thief and the Cobbler Links to all you need to know about would have been the greatest animated film.
- Träumwelt Not the prettiest of Princess Tutu sites, but the only one which is even vaguely up-to-date.
- 12 Kingdoms Fansite for Jûni Kokuki, the great grand fantasy of raito noberu, and also a great anime series.
- Unico in the Island of Magic Site about the second Unico movie, Mahô no Shima e, but contains some information on the whole series. Also see Fable and Legend of Syrius.
